Bathmate Size Comparisons – Which Should You Get?
It’s the question everyone needs to know the answer to before they buy a Bathmate. Use the chart below to determine which model best suits you. For best results you will need to know 3 measurements –your girth, width and erection length.
I discuss more tips for picking the right model at the bottom of the post.
After now purchasing the X20, and comparing it to the x30 and Hercules, I can confirm max measurements, which you’ll see below for each pump. Both research and careful measuring has been done to provide you the hard to find stats on all of this brands pumps.
If you are having any reservations on getting one, then taking a look at the other options for getting bigger can give you a better idea of how it compares. It never hurts to be sure. After-all, the best results will come with regular use, which takes commitment. If you aren’t committed to this, then by all means; save your money!
If you are committed, then get excited, because you are one step closer to having a mighty penis.
Hercules
The Hercules is the companies first and most recognizable hydro pump model (also the one I first started with). It has been updated a couple times, with the latest model being Gen 3. Skeptics and those on a budget typically go for it as it is an affordable entry into the hydro-pumping world, that lets them see what it’s all about. It can hold 22oz of water, and the average mans penis -which is what you really want to know. Here’s the specs:
It Will Comfortably Fit
-
- Erection Fit 7.08 inches and under
- Girth Fit 5.69 inches and under
- Penis Width 1.81 inches
Max Capacity
- Max Erection Length up to 9.75 inches
- Max Girth 7.07 inches
- Max Penis Width 2.25 inches
Hydromax x20
The x20 came out late 2015, and filled the gap in the series for us smaller-to-average guys. It has all the performance advantages of the hydromax series, but with a smaller profile that fits those with less length, where using a larger pump was a waste of space and didn’t provide as good of suction. It has a water capacity of around 18 oz, holding about 5 oz less than the x30, while providing better suction for those within its intended size range.
It Will Comfortably Fit
- Erection Fit under 5.08 inches
- Girth Fit 5.19 inches and under
- Width 1.81 inches and under
Max Capacity
- Max Erection Length up to 6.75 inches
- Max Girth 6
- Max Width 2
Xtreme x20
The xtreme version of the x20, like all the others you will find below, comes with the added benefit of a hand ball that offers extreme control over the pressure in the pump, which is ideal for men that plan on pumping up before sex. Other than this amazing benefit, it is identical in size with the lesser hydromax x20.
It Will Comfortably Fit
- Erection Fit under 5.08 inches
- Girth Fit 5.19 inches and under
- Width 1.81 inches and under
Max Capacity
- Max Erection Length up to 6.75 inches
- Max Girth 6
- Max Width 2
The shorter length and circumference of the comfort sleeve offers ideal performance for average guys. Also, the x20 and x30 have interchangeable comfort sleeves, so if you do outgrow the sleeve on the x20 you can purchase the one on the x30, which will save you some coin.
Hydromax x30
The Hydromax series is the most popular, and notably come with 35% more suction power. This new model also features a newly designed leak-proof valve and rotatable body. It has a water capacity of 23 oz, making it 1oz larger than the Hercules, but with more suction due to the stronger gaitor and updated valve.
It Will Comfortably Fit
- Erection Fit under 7.08 inches
- Girth Fit 5.69 inches and under
- Width 2 inches and under
Max Capacity
- Max Erection Length up to 9.75 inches
- Max Girth 7.07
- Max Width 2.25
The x30 may be the same size as the Hercules, but the gaitors provide more usable room in the tube as many users found after removing the comfort pad.
Hydromax x30 Wide Boy
This is the pump the average length guys with above average girth will need. It is identical in length with the standard x30, but possesses the width and girth size of the x40. Most users will outgrow the girth of their pump before length, and because so the best-selling x30 size range needed to provide the logical next step up for it’s users that didn’t mean buying an overly-long x40. This choice now gives those that have above-average girth but average length an accurately sized pump for them that offers ideal performance.
It Will Comfortably Fit
- Erection Fit under 7.08 inches
- Girth Fit 6.91 inches and under
- Width 2.20 inches and under
Max Capacity
- Max Erection Length up to 9.75 inches
- Max Girth 7.70 inches
- Width 2.45
The x30 Wide Boy is the same length as the x30, but possesses the girth and width of the x40.
Xtreme x30
The Xtreme is the newest model in the Bathmate lineup. It takes your pumping to a whole new level by adding a convenient hand ball extension to the mix. Now you can more easily edge your way to the pressure you want to be at without having to sacrifice an already great seal by pumping the whole unit down as you would with the Hercules, x30, x40, and goliath. It is exactly the same size as the x30, but gives you much more control over the pressure.
It Will Comfortably Fit
- Erection Fit under 7.08 inches
- Girth Fit 5.69 inches and under
- Width 2 inches and under
Max Capacity
- Max Erection Length up to 9.75 inches
- Max Girth 7.07
- Max Width 2.25
The added hand pump allows the user to increase the pressure of the tube without compressing the gaitor, increasing the usable tube length by easing pressure off the pelvic region from the normal down-pumping motion.
Hydromax x40
15% larger than the x30, this model can hold up to 25 oz of water, and also has 35% more power than the Hercules, and all the same features as the x30, but in a slightly larger size. It is the 3rd largest hydro pump on the market.
It Will Comfortably Fit
- Erection Fit 8.46 inches and under
- Girth Fit 6.91 inches and under
- Width 2.20 inches and under
Max Capacity
- Max Erection Length up to 11 inches
- Max Girth 7.70 inches
- Width 2.45
Xtreme x40
The xtreme version of the x40 came out after people had some time to review the x30 xtreme. I jumped on the bandwagon and bought one a couple weeks ago. I figured it was a worthy investment since it came with more room for girth growth, and I wanted to see how the pump and comfort pad faired. Needless to say I love the hand pump and comfort pad -they make a huge difference in ease and comfort of use. However, the thing is just huge. It’s a half inch shy of the Goliath in length, and even though I just wanted extra room for girth growth I feel kinda stupid for using such a massive pump. I can live with it though, but it would be nice to see a wider range of sizes from BM down the road.
It Will Comfortably Fit
- Erection Fit 8.46 inches and under
- Girth Fit 6.91 inches and under
- Width 2.20 inches and under
Max Capacity
- Max Erection Length up to 11.5 inches
- Max Girth 7.70 inches
- Width 2.45
Xtreme x50
The x50 Xtreme replaced the now discontinued Goliath in 2017. Dubbed ‘Goliath’ for a reason –it was a behemoth designed for those over 9 inches in length. Now, the big-guys have the x50 to turn to. With a capacity of 45 oz the X50 is the biggest water pump sold today, two times the size of the Hercules. In fact it is so big the Hercules fits inside of it! This pump is no joke, and like all the others, it should only be bought by those who fit it.
It Will Comfortably Fit
- Erection Fit 9.84 inches
- Girth Fit 8.14 inches and under
Max Capacity
- Max Erection Length up to 12 inches
- Max Girth 8.46 inches
- Max Width 2.75 inches
Important Notes
If you want to grow you should buy a model that offers room for you to grow. More importantly you should decide what direction you want to grow most.
Want Girth?
- Girth growth typically happens before length with pumps, so getting one with 1 inch or more extra room girth-wise would be advisable if you want outward expansion. Realistically you can see .5-1.5 inch growth in girth with pumping (depending on your starting size), and that’s over a couple years. Once you reach maximum tissue expansion gains become harder. That’s where the sobering reality of enlargement comes in… when it comes to this area the most damaging thing someone can have when doing any kind of enlargement activity is unrealistic expectations. They kill your motivation when they aren’t met, and can even cause damage through overzealous exercising. So, realistically, If you have 5.5 inch girth then you should at most get a x30 as it has a max girth of 7 inches. You have 1.5 inches to grow, which is more than enough room to grow into. You’ll be overpaying if you buy the x40 or Goliath, and be stuck with a massive pump that you’ll feel kinda stupid using.TL;DR: Buy the one that has around 1-1.5 inch extra girth room for your penis.
Want Length?
- If you max out girth wise then naturally more suction will be applied to the length of your penis, causing length gains to happen. I’ve definitely noticed this effect as I started to max out the available width in my Hercules as I have an oblong shaped penis that is wide and not a perfect circle circumference. For most the base of the penis is the thickest -which is true for me and is where I’ve maxed out in width in the Hercules. I’ve noticed that more suction is applied to the areas that aren’t as thick, which is slowly creating a more consistent girth around the whole penis and not to mention gains in length. If you want length, then get a Bathmate model that more closely fits your girth (but won’t too tightly constrict it or you’ll have a hard time taking it off).
Keep this in mind if you want length over girth, or visa versa.
If for some reason the size guide doesn’t work for you, and you end up with a poor fitting one, then don’t fret –you can exchange or get a refund, so you will get one that fits.
Where to Buy?
The sheer amount of online retailers selling this device can make it tough to pick the right store, but fret not, for you I’ve tested a couple of them, and the one I link to on this page is ran by the manufacturer themselves. They ship worldwide, and express shipping is FREE -which is big because a lot of times stores have cheap prices but AWFUL shipping rates and painfully-slow delivery (Example: I paid quite a bit on one store that took over 2 weeks to deliver).
The store I recommend is Lovehoney, which is a hugely popular online retailer of adult toys, with customer service that is at the top of the ladder in quality. Returns are prompt an easy, and ordering is a breeze. They are a retailer of loads of male enhancement products, including Bathmate’s products, so the added benefit of ordering there is adding other products you’d like, and getting it all delivered at once. Here are the sizes for sale on Lovehoney. You’ll also get free shipping with your order.
If you want to know more, the Hercules was my first hydro pump, and the Xtreme is what I am using now in my phallosan and bathmate challenge. Here’s why I upgraded.
Update: I’ve just realized why so many are confused in the comments below as to whether to get the x30 or x40, and it’s because I made the mistake of suggesting the x40 in the example in this section. I meant x30, and have fixed it.
Also note that most of the recommendations in the comment section below were made before the release of the x30 Wide Boy and the x20 models, and were based on what pumps were available at that time. Now there are enough sizes available to meet the many different forms of penises, that questions of which size to get aren’t as frequent or necessary.

Pumpy D
February 2, 2014, 7:49 pmthe x40 will do, but I’d recommend getting the xtreme x40 because the pump makes using the whole thing that much easier.

April 26, 2014, 2:22 pmWhich Bathmate should I buy between the X30 and X40? I’m about 6.2in length and 5.2in girth and would like to gro in both erect length and girth
Pumpy D
April 26, 2014, 4:22 pmIf I were you I would get the x30. The internal girth maximum is about 7 inches girth, which gives you nearly 2 inches to grow. The length max of it also gives you 2 inches+ to grow.
You’ll get a better seal with an x30 than a looser fitting x40.
Good pick on the hydromax. They are more comfortable than the hercules, and much easier to pump and control pressure.
Hope that helps Dr D.

May 18, 2015, 9:56 amHello , my dimensions are also 6.2″ x 5.1″. My Goal is 8″ x 6.6″ .
If I buy x30 , How much maximum gains are possible with x30?
During the final stage of my gains, Is there any space for in X30 so that to maintain adequate pressure ?

May 29, 2014, 1:41 amhi, i’m about 7in length, which one do you recommend me? i wanna get at least 9 in
Pumpy D
June 6, 2014, 8:30 pmAssuming your girth is under 7 inches, you would be best off with a hydromax x30 or hydromax xtreme x30 for your goal of 2 inch length growth.
Happy pumping.

June 12, 2014, 4:22 pmI’m a newbie to PE and decided to try to grow 2 inches on both length and girth. I’m a pathetic 5.5″ length and 4.25″ girth, but what’s even more pathetic is my flaccid state. Which Bathmate would you recommend? I’m considering on buying the Phallosan Forte to work in tandem with the BM. What is your opinion?
Pumpy D
June 18, 2014, 10:02 pmIf your goal is 2 inch girth, then I’d recommend the xtreme x30 or at the very least the hydromax x30. The hand pump on the xtreme is awesome, and you can really, really regulate the pressure easily to ensure better bloodflow. However, the hand pump kinda gets in the way when you go about showering. It just hangs off the pump if you let it go, then dangles around as you go about your business. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to take because it’s a major step up from my hercules, and I like the more precise control of pressure.
You’ll just have to decide which would work better for you based on how you’ll use it, or what your preferences are.
I’m not all too sure on the phallosan, or any extender for that matter, but I will say that the design of it looks more comfortable than the traditional noose extender you see everywhere. I’ve tried a traditional noose extender for a couple weeks and gotta say they are NOT practical for wearing 6-8 hours a day. It literally felt like my appendage was being strangled, and the purple glans after a couple of hours of wear sure did reflect that.
If you do try the phallosan let me know how it works, I am curious. The cup design at the end looks smart. Kinda similar to what those restoring foreskin use.

June 19, 2014, 6:05 pmI will most definitely give the BM Hydromax Extreme X30 the chance to prove it works then I’ll try the Phallosan.
My goal is to gain 2″on length and to fill the sides of the X30 (1.81 diameter) in 6 mos. If, however, the BM doesn’t deliver on its promise I’ll try out the Phallosan and report back to this blog.
I appreciate your feedback and will begin my PE adventure real soon.

June 29, 2014, 5:03 pmAwesome Tino, I look forward to the review. It’s a pricey device so I’m sure others too would like to see how well it works.

August 21, 2014, 8:50 pmI measure just below 6.5 inches and 5 inches in girth. I’m looking to achieve gains of at least 2.5 inches min. 4 inches max. Which would the best model to invest in?
Pumpy D
August 22, 2014, 9:37 amI got nearly an inch from a Hercules, but with much trial and error. I can only recommend a xtreme x30 for you, because there will be much less trial an error, and elastic pumping will be easier. The hand pump makes a huge difference. I wish it was what I started with when I had the motivation. Given your size the xtreme x30 is what you want.

November 3, 2015, 2:56 pmI’m about 7in long, 6.2 thick, 2.3in wide, what would you recommend to fit comfortably and room for growth?
Pumpy
November 23, 2015, 2:15 amfor that length I would recommend the hercules or the x30. Both are the same size, but the x30 has a better seal and suction. I personally like the xtreme version because of the pump, which allows for easier intermittent pumping.

November 14, 2015, 1:59 amIf all factors being constant i were to choose between X 40 & goliath which will create more pressure.

December 9, 2015, 11:59 amI’m thinking about getting a Hydropump and starting out as a beginner. I measured and got a 7.5 in length erected and 5 in girth.
The official site says that the Goliath is a best fit (for a beginner), but I’m wondering that either a X30 or X40 could work despite being new?
Pumpy
December 19, 2015, 6:45 amI would get the x30. A closer fit makes for a quicker seal, which for daily use is everything, because it makes it that much quicker and easier to use. Your measurements would make the x30 the ideal choice for fit.
Their recommendation of the Goliath and Hercules to beginners is pretty much based on price alone. Most beginners don’t want to spend too much on a pump, so the online stores recommend them as an entry level option. I personally think beginners should go right for the hydromax or xtreme, which have much more to offer in comfort and seal – two incredibly important factors for a successful daily pumping routine.

January 29, 2016, 1:54 pmHi, i have a question. My penis is 6.3 in length and 4.7 in girth. The official site says that the X20 is the best pump for me. which one would you recommend?

February 6, 2016, 4:18 pmHello guys I have decided to buy a pump but I don’t know which one to get.
The Hercules or the X30 ?
Im average so both should work but I need an advice since I consider myself a beginner.

March 13, 2016, 5:44 pmI’m 6inches I’m think about buying the hydromax x20 would recommend the x20
Pumpy
April 1, 2016, 11:54 pmWhat about your girth? The x20 is better suited for those under 6 inch length, at 6″ you will be over the top of the measuring gauge.

March 18, 2016, 12:04 amHi,
I’m 7.1/7.2 inches erect and 5.2 in girth. Which bathmate model would you recommend? I’m debating between the X30 and X40. Thanks.
Pumpy
April 1, 2016, 11:49 pmthe hercules to the hydromax x30, or the xtreme version of the x30. I prefer the hand pump on the xtreme because you can use the pump more easily with air. It just makes it easier to use the pump when you want and how you want.

April 10, 2016, 2:30 pmI am not shure if i should get the x30 orx 40 iam 7,5 long and 5,7 girth, which one would you recommend?
Pumpy
April 10, 2016, 2:39 pmYou’ll be saving money and have a great fit if you go with the X30.
lidaryl
April 21, 2016, 5:05 pmI see you recommending everyone to get the x30 is that just to save money because im 7 and a half and want to get at less 10 in length and about 8 in width
Pumpy
April 22, 2016, 2:41 amTo people that are your length and under 6 inch girth I do recommend the x30, because a better seal makes for a more usable pump, which is important in the beginning when you are getting into a routine. At 6 inch girth you’d have 1 inch girth to grow, so you’ll get a lot of use out of it. And yeah, it saves money, which is good all around. So far, I haven’t seen any evidence showing that using a pump above your size range can improve results. In my experience and many others, too large of pump creates more problems with comfort and usability, which costs you time and causes frustration.
Hope that clarifies!

May 19, 2016, 1:31 amHi,
I’m 5 inches erect and 5 in girth. I would to grow in both areas but am torn between the x20 and the x30, please advise.
Pumpy
May 22, 2016, 2:21 amHere you go sir.
5 inch girth and over should absolutely get the x30…
and because I haven’t updated this sizing post to include x20’s measurements, here’s a quick picture reference of how 5×5 would fit in the insert of the x20 and the insert of the x30.
These pictures really make it easier to decide I think (and to recycle paper).
Do you see how easy it would be to pack the x20 width wise?
Now, if you could get the insert of the x30 and put it in an x20, then you would have the perfect pump! Side note – the inserts of the x20 and x30 are interchangeable.
Chris
May 24, 2016, 10:32 pmSo is the X20 even worth buying? or does the x30 not work well with smaller penises?
Pumpy
May 27, 2016, 4:36 pmHey Chris, the x20 is definitely worth getting for those under 5″ both ways.
Chris
May 22, 2016, 9:17 pmSo do you think the X20 is even worth buying or should I get the X30? 4.5″ * 4.5″
Pumpy
May 27, 2016, 12:01 pmthe comfort pad on the x2 has an inner diameter of 6″, the x3’s is 6.5″. While .5″ doesn’t seem like much of a difference on the ruler, it is in penis terms, and in this case means the difference between a good seal and a poor one.
-With the x3 you would have 2″ of extra room, which is harder to work with.
-With the x2 you will have 1.5″ of extra room girth-wise, which makes it the ideal choice for you.
1″-1.5″ of extra room for girth is ideal.
