In March 2012 my first pump challenge started, mostly because of an impulsive purchase one late night after seeing an interesting pump on Tosh.0. I read a few testimonials that shared awesome results, and wanted it for myself, too.
Starting a blog to chronicle the journey seemed like the best thing to do. Not only could I get practice running one, but also help you find an answer to the question -- is enlargement with a pump possible?
A lot has changed over the course of 4 years since I decided to find this out. In the beginning, I had a lot of excitement over the possibility, and made an attempt at keeping the site updated so you could follow along…

The Long List of Round 1 Updates...
- Bathmate Day 3: All About the Seal
- Bathmate Day 10: Uhhh… Why is it Swelling?
- 1 year update - 2013/05/29
Obviously I had the intention of updating more than 3 times.
And… let's be real here… 3 posts and a 1 year update is terrible. It get's worse when you see I haven't posted an update in nearly 3 years!
My Pumping for Enlargement Timeline
- 2012 - Bought pump, got to know pump, used pump for whole year
- 2013 - Finished year long experiment. This was my first round of using a pump
- 2014 - Took year off to see if results were permanent
- 2015 - Not permanent. Results went away after a couple months. Didn't start back up, but bought an Xtreme towards end of year. Didn't use it because stuff happened...
What's going on here? Did my dink fall off? Testicles implode as an unforeseen side effect of pump-withdrawal?
Nope. Not at all. What really happened isn't nearly exciting. What happened was… life.
As it so turns out, some lifestyles are favorable for consistent pump use, while others are not. For instance, maybe one year you find yourself moving a lot, whether it be travel or constant job relocation, in this case it would be hard to stay consistent. Maybe you are a long distance trucker, or have a long term gig on a fishing boat, or move to the remote Alaska wilderness to plunder it's gold -- the takeaway is, that some lifestyles make it difficult to stay consistent, and that's what happened to me.
These are all things that should be considered before starting a pumping challenge. If you want to see if you'll grow, but can't commit to consistent use, then you may want to save it for another day. But if you are ok with casually using it when you can -- that's fine too. Lots of people do that. But don't expect amazing results.
It takes time and a routine for that.
Getting in a Routine
March was dedicated to getting back in the routine of using a pump, which like the first time, was full of mental and physical hurdles.
- First I had to overcome the thinking that the first round was a failure, and that this was all just a waste of time
- Second, I had to rebuild the routine of using a pump
- Third, I had to recondition my dingy to the pressure of pumping
The last two are not so easy when you feel like you are wasting your time. So, to beat that mental roadblock, I went back and looked at my first round results that were achieved through using just a Bathmate Hercules.
+.75" length and +.5" girth
Which motivated me to do 21 days of pumping.
Which resulted in a renewed interest in this challenge, not just because of the results, but also because the Bathmate is actually fun to use.
And now, here I am again, back in a routine. Only this time, instead of sporadically posting updates, I will be publishing monthly reports to track progress in this challenge.
What to Expect
- Time pumped (average session time and monthly total)
- Results (length and girth growth of erect and length of flaccid)
- Thoughts on how to improve results
Other things will be tracked too, because every little bit counts.
- Morning Wood
These things can improve erection health, and in general seem to be something every guy should work to improve. They also will broaden this website into other more mainstream areas of male enhancement, which could help those that decide they need to perform better but don't necessarily want to try enlargement -- because of time commitment or disinterest in what can be a tough topic to research.
And I don't blame them. PE takes time. It also can be filthy. Which brings me to this little tangent.
Thoughts on PE & My First Round Results
I think it's fair to be honest about this. At the end of the last round I had no clue where to take this blog after seeing that the results were not permanent.
And while .75" and .5" improvement is noticeable during sex, it's not going to garner the same reaction as an extra 3 inches would.
Not to mention… I never gained 1-3 inches, which you see claimed many places online.
You could say it was because I failed to use the pump correctly the first round, and you may be right (all the better reason to try again). I did use it for 10 minutes at a time, 4-5 times a week. I also did not pump that hard, and even used a wrap around my flaccid self as a way to help keep my Hercules on. These things could have affected my results.
Still, my results contradict a lot of what can be read online, which got to me. Taking a long break from pumping gave me plenty of time to think about the nature of the PE industry.
The reality is -- PE can be vain and hard to navigate. It's full of braggadocios bros, that obsess over every little detail of their johns. It's also heavy on bro-science, and claims that sound too-good-to-be-true but freaking awesome at the same time.
Being involved in something that has these things can get pretty draining, and because of it I was close to shutting down the site more than a couple of times.
But, while the face of PE can be an ugly beast, the overlooked truth underneath has much to offer. None of it having to do with vanity, but virility instead.
For one, pumps are proven rehabilitation devices, so while PE may be pushing me to take them outside of the box they should be in, a pump still offers a pretty impressive benefit for penile health.
Secondly, they can provide an immediate boost in erection size. Some days I log as much as +.125" in girth. While not permanent, it's still something, and impressive considering it can be achieved in as little as 10 minutes.
And when used often, devices like pumps may minimize shrinkage by maintaining bloodflow, which as we all know, get's more complicated with age.
When I am ready to swear off PE and pumps because of overzealous claims, I try to remember that pumps still have their benefits, even if it may be as boring as improving hardness or beating shrinkage. While not as exciting as the possibility of 1-3 inches, these are still desirable results.
But, I'm getting carried away here. No need to settle on this just yet. Round 2 is just beginning!
This Brings us to April's Totals
April saw numbers that I never would have attempted in my first round. I believe this is because I'm not making the same mistakes, which has allowed me to pump longer more consistently.
Daily Breakdown of Pumping
- Number of times used: 23
- Monthly total time used: 12 hours
- Average session length: 31.52 minutes
Towards the end of the month it got very easy to reach my peak. This is a similar experience to the first round, and indicates that there is a break-in period, which when passed, unlocks higher levels.
The 21st I started adding 3 tablespoons of epsom salt in the water. The first round I had used magnesium chloride, which is known for it's higher absorption rate than other forms of magnesium, but also it's skin burning side effect at higher concentrations. This time I turned to epsom salt, which hasn't burned nearly as much as mag chloride, and seems to also be shrinking my fordyce spots.
Skin is softer and there is no discoloration yet from extended pumping. Is this because of the epsom salt? I think so.
The majority of my pumping was done at low pressures. I spent more time warming up than I did anything else. While boring to do, It does seem to help in preventing injury. No small red dots yet.
I first hit 4.5 the 21st, but had to work up to it. After the 25th it became easy. Though, the 25th is also the day I got my worst edema yet. Oddly enough, it hit the hardest after taking off the stretcher, not before.
On the 25th I was able to hit 4 fairly quickly. This was the first time I've been able to hit that mark so soon and effortlessly. It was this day I also measured an extra .125" on my girth, probably because I pumped so long and hard, but may also be because I used hotter water than usual. Next month I will be testing this.
On the 26th the streak continued and I hit 4.5 easily.
On the 27th, it was 5. I also got tired of pumping in the bath, and decided to create a setup that would let me pump outside it. It was very easy to do and cost about $18.
After that I needed a break, and 5 was good peak to end the month on.
Daily Breakdown of Stretching
- Number of times worn: 10
- Monthly total time used: 19.25 hours
- Average session length: 1.925 hours
Because my last round saw no permanent gains, I've made the decision to add stretching to my routine which many claim “cements” results.
With this setup, what a stretcher is really doing is helping me get the most out of my pump use. It complements my pumping, by further stretching the relaxed tissue. At least, that's the theory.
For 10 days I used a stretcher, for an average of 1 hour 55 minutes. This wasn't added to my routine until I was 100% certain I was conditioned enough to wear it. As you probably have noticed by now, I take safety seriously. The last thing I want is a massive formation of scar tissue in my shaft rendering it completely useless.
Some of the key indicators I was looking for was being able to use the pump for an extended time of 50 minutes without experiencing too much visible signs of hypoxia. I didn't want to add it in when oxygen saturation was still so low that my pecker would turn purple after 5 minutes of pumping, so conditioning it beforehand was an absolute requirement.
Whether repeat use of the pump increases red blood cells similar to how working out does, I can't really say, but it would make sense that an activity that can cause cells to consume oxygen like pumping can sometimes do, would have a similar effect. When oxygen levels become low, Erythropoietin is secreted, which increases red blood cell production. More red blood cells mean more oxygen being carried through your blood.
This may explain why the more I use the pump the longer I can go without seeing signs of hypoxia. But, of course this is just my theory.
What Stretcher am I Using?
I've read so many tutorials on the phallosan that it was instinctual to put on. I didn't bother reading the sheet that came with it, just put it on and set tension in the green. In all it took 10 minutes the first time, and now just 5. It looks complicated at first, but with just 3 pieces, it's actually very easy.
I read that keeping the foreskin under the protective glans condom was something to do, but man was my glans not happy about that. It came out with canyon sized impressions in it. Now I just pull back the foreskin and put the condom over the glans. Much more comfortable, and my glans doesn't look like water carved a channel on it when the condom is taken off.
There were 2 days I could not go the full 2 hours I was shooting for. This happened the 3rd and the 8th day of using the stretcher. Both days I had some discomfort in the dorsal nerve of the shaft. I think it was either because of the position I was sitting in that day, or that there may have been a twist in the stretch, putting pressure on the nerve.
And Now, Here Are The Results
The final measurements were taken April 30th, and compared to the starting measurements taken on April 3rd.
- Flaccid Length: +.5"
- Erection Length: +.25"
- Erection Girth: No increase
- Kegels: 215/1000(1000 kegels per month is the goal)
- Morning Wood: 15/30 mornings(50% of mornings is good enough for me)
Ways to Improve?
I have no plans to increase the length of time using the phallosan or bathmate, and will likely stick to the same slow level of progression in intensity. Though, I do want to use them at least 26 times in May.
One thing I would like to attempt is a fast, as they are proven to increase HGH and Testosterone levels. This could prove helpful as it's believed these hormones are critical for new growth.
Another possible test would be using a larger diameter pump to see if it offers any improvement in girth growth. My hunch is it won't, since with the x30 I still have 1 inch of room. But there is a possibility the extra space around the shaft could create more outwards pull. This may be tested in May.
To meet my goal of 1000 kegels per month I will shoot for 65-70 kegels every other day.
A Good First Month
I think this will about do it for my first monthly update of what I hope will become a staple on the blog and a helpful tool for those attempting their own enlargement challenge.
