The Hard Numbers
The numbers that used to be reported in this post were taken from other users reported gains posted on forums and in reviews. I have since removed them because I felt they were inaccurate and created unrealistic expectations. The numbers I have replaced them with are from my own experience testing these pumps: first a Hercules, then an Xtreme x40, followed by an Xtreme x30, and now finally an Xtreme x20 (yes I read a lot of bad sizing advice online). The x20 didn’t exist until 2015, so I had been using the x30 up until then, which was too long for my size.

After one month of regular Bathmate sessions, combined with a healthy diet of magnesium and nitrite rich foods; it is possible to see improvement in size after the sessions. Most results at this stage are temporary, but the performance boost can be as much as 10% improvement over their starting size in total between girth and length. Now, I typically see 2-5%, but 10% on a good day day is possible -but rare. The duration of effects can be anywhere between 2 minutes to 3 hours post-pump. Sensitivity can be higher post-pump, with stamina replacing it after 4 hours; an odd effect yes, but this is an observable effect for me.
After 6-9 months, girth increased almost 10% with length increasing around 5%. Together, this is 15% total improvement. These results came in both cases where I used the pump for longer than 6 months, with measurable gains happening early months and later on in the challenge. You can find the results here in this chart. In the 2nd challenge I resorted to pumping while flaccid, while the first round I pumped with an erection. In both cases measurable gains happened within the first month.
Each testing round produced similar results, with the second round producing results quicker than the first. In that round I used a Phallosan penis stretcher with a Hydromax Xtreme. In that challenge I feel I failed to use the Phallosan enough to produce effective results, and that the faster gains were a result of the greater degree of control the hand pump provided. On the contrary, it could also have been because I had more practice penis pumping by then.
In both rounds I did not experience permanent changes, and results faded away over the span of several months. To me this indicates I would need to stick to consistent use to maintain results. You on the other hand, may experience otherwise, and others do report permanent results.
I think some men believe that because the effect lasts a couple months that it has a degree of permanence, and as such is considered permanent by them. I agree to a certain extent, because in every round of testing, the maintenance required to keep the results has been minimal; usually requiring 1-2 sessions a week versus 5.
It’s important to note that any gains lost due to non-use can be gained back, and faster than before; so you don’t worry about losing all your results over vacation. Like working out gets easier over time, so does penis pumping, which is something to look forward too.
